As a PhD researcher, his enquiry is titled ‘Illustrating Absence: pre-verbal separation and selfhood’. His visual language, compositions and contrasting tones are directly related to the genre of film noir, which itself has been described as ‘the cinema of trauma’.

He supervises practice-based PhD students, employing Illustration as a tool to articulate new understanding of knowledge areas such as identity, archives, narrative, place, education, and choreography.
